A Changing Landscape for B12 Testing

26 March 2025 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Pathology – Testing for B12

Professor Dominic Harrington, Synnovis, will share his knowledge about Pathology: Testing blood for Vitamin B12 deficiency. Dominic has been Chief Scientific Officer at Synnovis, who provide all pathology services in south east London, since 2017, and is a Consultant Clinical Scientist. His primary research interest is in the development and application of biomarkers for the assessment of vitamin status. Dominic has published more than 90 scientific papers and books and has an honorary academic position at King’s College London and is a visiting professor at the School of Biosciences and Medicine, University of Surrey. In addition, Dominic is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a Chartered Quality Professional.

He is without doubt an expert and scientific leader in innovation and pathology and his in depth understanding of vitamin biomarkers in blood will help attendees of this seminar understand what they need to know about what tests are being and should be conducted and why. More importantly we can learn what to do with that blood information for diagnosis and treatment and what the future of testing for B12 deficiency might look like.

If you are a patient, clinician or researcher, this talk is for you. Even if you think you already know about blood tests, come along and hear about blood samples, what can affect the test results, what needs to be understood about the results, what do the different tests look for and tell the clinician and how should they be interpreted?
